How old must I be to join Scouts BSA Troop 42?

To become a Scout you must be less than 18 years old AND MEET ONE of the following requirements:
– Be at least 10 years old and have already completed the 5th grade, OR Be at least 11 years old, OR Be at least 10 years old and have already earned the Arrow of Light Award as a Cub Scout.

How do I Join Scouts BSA Troop 42?

If you are new to Scouts BSA and want to join Troop 42, visit Scouting.org to apply online. Interested in bridging from Cub Scouts or an existing Scouts BSA Troop? Please contact our membership chair thru our online contact form.

When and where are Scout meetings?

Troop 42 meets at St Barts Catholic Church on Alameda in San Mateo from 7:30-9pm on the first, second, and fourth Tuesdays of the Month from late August thru June.

How much does it cost ?

Our Troop dues vary from year to year, but they are generally below $200 for the scouting year (Sep – June). Our Troop works hard to keep costs affordable and we offset our dues thru our annual holiday wreath fundraiser.

What do parents need to do?

We welcome parent involvement and invite parents to attend the end of each Troop meeting, participate in Scout advancement thru Board of Review, as well as thru other volunteer leadership positions in the Troop.

How often does Troop 42 have outings?

In addition to summer camp at Camp Royaneh, we have Troop outings every month from September thru May, as well as some high adventure outings in the summers.

How is Troop 42 run?

Troop 42 is a Scout run Troop with adult guidance. The Greenbar (senior Scouts) plan the scouting calendar with input from adult leaders throughout the year. This also include meeting activities, campouts, and other activities.
