Supporting Camp Via West – We need your help!
As of February 8th, we are at 50% of our fundraising goal!
Hello! My name is Brandon Lin, and I am a Scout working toward the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouting. For my Eagle Scout service project, I am raising funds to build a new storage shed for Camp Via West, a camp for adults and children with disabilities in Cupertino. This project will provide long-term benefits to the camp and the many people and community members who use it each year.

About Camp Via West
Camp Via West is more than just a destination — it’s a transformative experience, made possible by the support of people like you.
Because school was not mandated for children with disabilities in the 1940’s, the single mother of a 13-year-old boy with cerebral palsy had to leave her son alone every day in a wheelchair by the window. Two women noticed the boy and approached the mother to provide help. Soon, they were carrying him and his wheelchair down two flights of narrow stairs for short field trips and city excursions, expanding his horizons.
The women were soon helping five people with disabilities. Generous people and organizations donated transportation and a vacant house. With borrowed chairs and tables, the growing group of volunteers provided lunch, entertainment and day activities.
That act of generosity led to the creation of the Crippled Children’s Society, an organization that would become Via Services and is now known as Camp Via West.

About the project
Camp Via West relies on equipment and materials to support its programs and activities, in this case the garden program. Currently, storage space is limited to a small, dilapidated shed, making it difficult to safely and efficiently organize these supplies.
My Eagle Scout project involves planning, fundraising, and leading the construction of a durable outdoor storage shed that will:
- Provide secure storage for camp equipment
- Improve organization and accessibility for all
- Protect materials from weather damage
- Support the camp for many years to come

Why This Project Matters
Camp Via West plays an important role in education for people with disabilities. By improving the camp’s infrastructure, this project will help:
- Enhance the experience for future people
- Reduce wear and loss of equipment
- Allow camp leaders to focus more on programming rather than logistics
Your support will directly contribute to a meaningful, lasting improvement for the camp and its community.
How You Can Help
To complete this project, I am raising funds to cover the cost of:
- Building materials
- Tools and supplies
I need to raise at least $2,500 for the project, and anything extra will be given to Camp Via West. Any donation—large or small—will help bring this project to life.
